2 days in and you’ll be pleased to know that the challenge is still very much on..!
I am however going to have the tiniest of rants.
At the weekend I had a stall at the lovely Alresford Show in Hampshire selling all the Upcycled Loveliness I make for Shouty Cat Makes. This is a really great traditional country show, and the sun shone, and I sold some stuff (hurrah!) and a good time was had by all.
But here comes the rant… During the course of the day I noticed several people walking past clutching the most enormous, tacky, ridiculous cuddly toy animals. I mean enormous, bigger than most 2 year olds. And really truly awful.
Is that really the best use for the world’s resources? Are there not better things that can be made with the time and materials that went into making these hideous monstrosities? Some poor child labourer in China or India has probably sweated away for a pittance to make these things, just so that our children can get an hours (if that) entertainment from the novelty value of it, before it then sits gethering dust in the corner of a room because really it’s a bit crap and nobody quite knows what to do with it.
There, rant over. Apologies if you have a fondness for hideous, large stuffed toys, but I needed to get that off my chest.
Normal service will now resume.
