Warminster is going to be hosting Wiltshire’s very first Repair Cafe!!!
How exciting is that?
I blogged not so long ago about Repair Cafes and how awesome I thought they were, and how I thought that every town and city should have one, and wouldn’t it be great if we could have one in my home town.
And I got lots of comments basically saying “Get off your backside, and stop talking and start doing” (only much nicer than that…!)
And guess what? Here it is..!
I have set it up with huge amounts of help from Emma Croft of Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. Essentially, I came up with the idea, and she has done pretty much ALL the work.
We will be at the Civic Centre in Warminster, from 10am-1pm, this coming Saturday (1st June) with a fabulous team of volunteer fixers-we have managed to recruit repair experts for clothes and textiles, computers, electrical items and bikes, as well as random bric-a-brac (a guest appearance from The Lovely Hubby..!)
Sugru have very kindly sent us some trial packs of their wonder-stuff, and I will be making cakes and cookies
So you can bring along something broken, take it home fixed, learn how to do it yourself the next time, AND stuff your face with homemade cake…
What more could you possibly want?!
Please come along and say hello, and tell ALL your friends! This is a fabulous project, aimed at not only reducing waste and promoting repair, but also at bringing the community together in a whole new way. I am so proud that we are hosting the first event of it’s kind, in the county (and the surrounds!), and it really will have a hugely positive impact on both the environment and the local community.
PS. Thanks everyone for the kick up the backside 😉
