Dodgy post title, sorry.
BUT amid huge excitement (mostly mine), this year, on our Christmas table, we had re-usable crackers!
I am sure you can all understand my excitement at this massive step forward in our human evolution 🙂
Every year for the last few years, making Christmas crackers has been on my Christmas ‘To-do list’ and every year, it gets to Christmas Eve, and I still haven’t made them, and it suddenly all seems too much.
This year was no different, in that it got to Christmas Eve, and we were still cracker-less, BUT I had bought these fabulous re-usable cracker kits from Onya (via Emma at the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust) and assembling them was a much less arduous task than making them from scratch.
Hubby had managed to snaffle up some of the hats and gifts from the crackers at his works do, and we found a couple of other bits and bobs to go in them, along with a chocolate coin each. Hubby even downloaded some festive jokes and tailor-made some “Who am I” questions for each recipient (the answers, among others, were Bob the Builder, the Gruffalo, and Speedy, our tortoise!)
They worked really well, but you do have to pinch the snap bit tight to get it to ‘crack’. You do also have to snaffle away the main parts to keep them safe and stop them getting squashed by over-excited small people!
I would have taken a picture, but the excitment all got too much, and I kind of forgot. Allow your imagination to run wild-they were awesome!
