We’ve had a bit of a break from Repairing in Warminster, largely due to my inability to get organised….
However, this weekend, we Repaired again!
(Previous Repair Cafe blog posts are here, and here , in case you are interested!)
I had the mild stress of trying to find a totally new bunch of volunteer menders, as all the lovely people who had previously helped out were otherwise engaged, but I managed it (with some help from Emma at the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust!), and now we should have a nice ‘pool’ of volunteers to call on for future events.
It was a little quieter than previous events, but we still had about 12 repairs, including:
- getting a sewing machine going again
- fixing a bedside lamp
- replacing a zip in a pair of jeans
- gluing several broken pieces of china
- fixing a wall clock
- mending a wobbly stool
I neglected to take any photos, so my apologies, but I really wanted to give a big ‘shout out’ and thankyou, to the awesome menders, for giving up their Saturday morning:
- Leonie-our very talented seamstress
- Dusty’s Bike Shed-our bike fixer, and general all round handyman!
- Kevin Hands from Instant Computer Solutions
- My lovely hubby
- Emma Croft from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust
Oooh, and thankyou Heather for the cake!
If you like the sound of Repair Cafes, and would love to get one going in your area, then check out the Repair Cafe website, which has some info on starting your own. And if you’re in Wiltshire, get in touch with Emma Croft at Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, and she can help you!
