Mending the mend…

…it’s all a learning curve. So that explains why BigSmall’s recently patched jeans (which I was so proud of!) now need a little more TLC…

My sewing must have just slipped off the edge on one part of the patch and has allowed the edge of the patch to lift up

But never fear, I am undaunted, kind of.

This is the second (and I hope final) attempt. This time I did a longer zigzag, kind of like a button hole stitch. And made sure that I was definitely inside the line of the patch.

That ain’t goin’ nowhere…

That so went over my head. Of course, now you’ve explained it to me in words of 2 syllables or less I understand!

Yes, that should hold. Maybe try widening your zig-zag stitch next time? You could also stitch in big running-stitch zig-zags across the entire patch which makes the whole thing more secure. Plenty of different methods to choose! Happily, repaired patches look cool (at least, I think so).

Ooh some fab ideas-know I should have waited until I could come to The Big Mend and picked your brains! I think they look cool too, and it also gives you that slightly smug satisfied feeling that you have ‘saved’ something!

Yes, mending is deeply satisfying! I should write to Mick Jagger about it… 😉
