General ramblings

Darn it!

I’m not sure if I spend more time than I should literally on my knees(!), but my jeans always seem to wear through pretty quickly in the knee region.
I decided that instead of patching, this time I would try and darn the torn area. I did it with a pair before and it seemed to work ok.

Here’s the offending area:

And here’s my trusty darning tool kit:

I used embroidery yarn in several different colours, and used my very inexpert darning technique to come up with this…

It’s not perfect. I’ve managed to pucker up the fabric slightly, and I’m not convinced how long it will last as the surrounding fabric is all very thin as well.
But it’s worth a go, and as always with mending, there’s nothing to lose!

Keep your eye out on the catwalks next year for this as a trend, when all the fashionistas realise just how good a look it is 😉

I do that too! The holes not the darning!

As the other knee is on its way out I’m opting for the cutting it off and boas binding the edge technique, like this….

Just hope I cut the legs straight! 😀

I love my darning mushroom – wouldn’t be without it. Darned knees are much better than ripped ones, I love your rainbow colours!
