General ramblings, Happy Stuff!

Happy Bee-day!

It’s been a bit quiet here on the blog, but that’s because it’s been busy!
The kids have been on half-term, and hubby was home too, so we had a very lovely week together.

We went to Stonehenge, took the kids swimming, and even visited the Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth.

And of course, it was Halloween.
We visited the Riverford farm near Winchester for their Pumpkin Carving Day, and BigSmall got invited to his first Halloween party. He went as Dracula, wearing the cape that Mother-in-law made for hubby many moons ago, and sporting drips of homemade blood…!

And it was my birthday!
Hubby is pretty ace at Buy Nothing New birthdays, (in the past I’ve been lucky enough to visit River Cottage HQ for a breadmaking course, learned how to make croissants with Richard Bertinet, and made my own knickers at The Makery!) and this year was no exception…

We’ve sponsored a beehive!
Apiary Number 8 at Bee Fruitful to be exact!
I had no idea this was even a ‘thing’, but it is.
I get regular updates on what’s going on at the hive during the year, as well as 12 jars of honey, and a small gift basket of beeswax goodies at Christmas.

There was a distinct bee theme to the birthday.
Hubby and the Smalls made me Honey biscuits, and a chocolate, honey and Earl Grey cake. Both decorated with very cute marzipan bees:

I can’t wait to receive my honey!

And now I really want my own hive…
